2009 FESTIVAL. SUNDAY'S SOCIAL WITH SAUSAGE SIZZLE AND HATS

Sunday Morning dawned with very wet precipitation but that didn't deter any of the Steel Guitar Players whether they were Club members or Invited Guest players. No way there they all were with the pouring rain waiting for the sausage sizzle and a relaxing time to play together. The Social was held in the Club's usual meeting room so of course not everyone was outside getting wet except for the Sausage Sizzler and some onlookers. The Sausage Sizzler deserves a big thank you as the rain was driving in and only just missing the BBQ.

Below are a few photos of some of the Steel Guitar Players and you will see what I mean and "hats" as you scroll down.

Alistair Mc Pherson was there and played a few tunes again . Notice Alistair didn't wear a hat!! You can see his face. Here is Bob Alloway playing his Zum Pedal Steel Guitar. But look Bob is wearing a HAT!!

Allen Hutchison Allen and Winnie Black
This is Allen Hutchison playing his left handed Dobro. Allen is a faithful club member and plays regularly at the Club meetings. Allen again being backed by his teacher Winston Black. Winston has made a good job of teaching Allen as he is now a lovely player.

Des Anthony

Graham Hart

Des Anthony is a Luthier and makes some lovely instruments here he is playing one of the ones he has made. Winnie is again backing Des. Graham Hart enjoys playing at the Club and is also a faithful member and a great Volunteer.

Ian Kerr

Ivan Posa

Here is hat number 2 sitting on Ian Kerr's head. Ian has a new MSA Pedal Steel Guitar and plays some lovely tunes. At least this hat allowed us to see his face!! Now here's a hat but where are Ivan's eyes? I know it's a nice hat; anyway Ivan played "Look at Us" just beautifully under his hat. Nice hat though don't you think, it came all the way from New Zealand.

Old Country with John McKeough. They were enjoyed by all during the afternoon. Look no hats. They all hail from Rockhampton and Gladstone Well, here is Nick O'Neill, underneath his hat. I wonder if that one comes from Ireland. He has got eyes but I am not sure where!! Nick enjoyed his weekend and plays a Carter Pedal Steel.

2 hats this time Paddy playing his Zum Pedal Steel and Bob backing him on the Spanish Guitar. Paddy along with some friends all trying to play the same Pedal Steel Guitar. Not sure it worked though. See those hats again!!

Afternoon tea was served and Noel is making sure every goes smoothly while Maureen Black makes the coffees and teas. Jean Hutchison is in the back there too and so is Graham Rampton. I know you were there too Shirley but can't see you here. A couple even took to dancing.

Mickey Riff
Mickey Riff was at our Sunday Social Sausage Sizzle without his band and his selection of songs was well received. Mickey hasn't been living in the Brisbane area for very long but he immediately joined the club once he had settled. Ivan, Bob and Paddy, Bob and Ivan on Zum Guitars and Paddy playing Spanish Guitar. Lovely to hear 2 steels together. But Oh those HATS 3 of them this time.

Above is Winston Black on his Anapeg Pedal Steel Guitar giving every one a tune and Des Anthony is backing Winston. Winston is another very faithful member of the club. 15 Pedal Steel or Dobro players at the Social. It was great to think that they all enjoyed themselves so much that they came back for more.

Well this ends the Steelers Social Sunday Sausage Sizzle

Thanks everyone for making our Festival one of the best ever.

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR
