Well our Festival is over again for another year. We have had great reports on how much people enjoyed the Concert and Social Day of the Sunday. We had visitors from Singapore and players and visitors from New Zealand and we feel we would have had some from other Countries as well but Australia is so far away from the USA, UK and Europe.

Our Saturday afternoon and evening concert went really well and we all enjoyed having such great players to entertain us all.

We had our Hall of Fame Awards in the evening and Paddy Long who was a recipient was very shocked to see that he was chosen. The 2nd recipient was Sid Downs which as unfortunately post humus but well deserving for his family.

KEN MYERS

Ken Myers is a fairly new comer to the Brisbane Guitar Club. He willing played a few songs at the Festival and made a great job. Ken has a fairly reserved personality so this was quite a big thing for Ken and once they got his backing tracks sorted out he did exceptionally well.

Ken played: Crazy, Under Your Spell Again, and Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, but these songs are only a few that Ken Played.

NICK O'NEILL

Nick with band
Nick O'Neill is a Sydney sider and he has improved immeasurably since he began playing at our Festivals. This year Nick played and sang which was wonderful because none of us knew that Nick had been singing since he was a young boy. Some of the songs that Nick played were: San Antonia Rose, Waltz Across Texas, My shoes Keep walking back to you, and Baby Blue.

ALLISTER MCPHERSON

Allister McPherson comes from New South Wales and every year without fail he brings his PA system up to Brisbane Queensland for the Club to use. Allister also sings and plays the Pedal Steel Guitar for us and makes a great job of his bracket. Allister then controlled the PA System for all the other artists. Allister sang: Easy Loving, Gypsy Woman, There Goes my Heart to mention just a few.

NOEL ANSTEAD

Noel Anstead

Noel Anstead is one of the founding members 16 years ago of the Brisbane Steel Club. Noel has now retired from making Pedal Steel Guitars. He played a few tunes for us and had us laughing at his nerves. Noel hasn't played for a Festival in quite a few years and he really played well when his nerves settled down. Some of Noel's songs were, All My Loving, Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White, Faded Love and Rhinestone Cowboy. Everyone loves Noel and Shirley his wife who has stood by Noel all the way.

ALLEN HUTCHISON

Allen Hutchison one of our long time Club members and has done extremely well on the Dobro under the keen eye of his teacher, namely Winston Black.

This is the second time that Allen has played at a Festival and we hope to see him for many more years to come.

Some of Allen's tunes were: Maiden's Prayer, In the Middle of an Island, and China Doll to mention but a few.

ALLEN HUTCHISON

IAN KERR

Ian Kerr is also a loyal club member who is always willing to entertain us at our Festivals. Ian has a lovely MSA double necked Pedal Steel which he has mastered well.

Ian played: The Waltz you Saved for Me, Blue Spanish Eyes and There'll be no Teardrops Tonight, just a name 3 of quite a number of tunes.

PAT AND ROBB LARKIN WITH MURRAY ARDERN

Pat, Robb and Murray joined together to produce a lovely Polynesian Show and one of the favouites with the audience is always the lighted poi. Along with the Poi and Polynesian dance they played Hula Heaven and Pokarekare Ana

SINGAPORE VISITORS

Here are our Singapore visitors who came over from Singapore just for our Festival. Dorothy Chia on the left, Ruth and Murray Ardern in the middle and Bill Chia on the right.

I met Bill Chia by email quite a few months ago now as he was looking for a Pedal Steel Guitar Teacher. He was willing to come to Australia to be taught as there are no Pedal Steel Guitar Teachers in Singapore. We had almost arranged for Murray to teach Bill when Murray become quite ill so we had to cancel. Bill decided to come over and enjoy the festival and it was a great opportunity for us to meet both Dorothy and Bill as they had become good friends over the email.

Here are some pictures of the Audience. Some people come regularly every year and for others it was the first time but

EVENING PROGRAMME

Ivan Posa
Ivan Posa comes over from Hamilton New Zealand every year at his own expense and this is really appreciated by the Brisbane Steel Guitar Club. Ivan also had another Kiwi Brian Ringrose backing him from Christchurch NewZealand. Lyall Barron was playing Bass. It really is an honour to have these musicians come over at their expense to help with the entertainment. Ivan played Mansion on the Hill,Cold, Cold Heart, Tennessee Waltz, She Thinks I still Care to name a few.

BOB ALLOWAY

Bob Alloway is great entertainment expecially when he brings Carmel and they entertain us together. They were so relaxed and with Chris Hartley whose fingers know the Keyboard backwards it made great listening along with Bill Sale and Peter Tunin from the backing band. They played Walking after Midnight, You win again, Carmel sang Crazy, Help me Make it Through Night, Chris Hartley on Keyboad along with Bob Alloway played Last Date.

Paddy has such a likeable and winning charm. He was shocked when he was called up to be presented with his Hall of Fame Plaque and managed to thank everyone through his shock. Paddy's Bio click here
