Dave Kirk along with his wife Carol (in red )and others helping to bring the show alive, really gave everyone a great rendition. Dave and Carol came all the way from the United Kingdom to attend and play for us, so a big thanks goes to them.
Warren Neilson is a well known Steel Guitar player here and abroad. He is always jolly and likes nothing better than to entertain at every chance given. He is an extremely accomplished Pedal Steel Player and he was presented with an Award at this years Festival. Warren was also given a set of finger picks that Rusty Thornhill handmakes in the USA and very generously donated to the Brisbane Club for this years Festival.
The above Award was present to Jean Stafford (pictured above) by Michel Rose. The Award was from Peermusic Sydney / Nashville (Jean’s publishing Company) in recognition for her services to Steel Guitar World Wide and the success for the track Steelin’ the 2 Step from her latest album
Wayne Appleby is a well known Pedal Steel Guitarist across Australia and the USA, so needless to say he played extremely well and was enjoyed by all of the attentive audience. Wayne is also very proud of his boys who did a great job of backing him at the Festival
One of Wayne's pupils John Towner was talked into going on stage for the first time since he began learning. He took a big step in his up and coming career as a Pedal Steel Guitarist. He was a credit to Wayne’s teaching abilities
Bob Alloway and Carmel his wife really lifted the crowds spirits with their usual up tempo songs. Bob's Pedal Steel playing and Carmels bubbly personality and great voice are always a crowd stopper.
Bob was awarded a set of Rusty Thornhill picks for his loyalty to the Brisbane Steel Guitar Club
A smiling Kenny Kitching goes "Hawaiian" playing on his 7 string Hawaiian guitar which was custom made. This gave the Festival a little taste of where the Steel Guitar had it's beginnings. Kenny is well known in Australia and always gives his best, he is a born musician. Thank you Kenny.
Here is Pat and Robb Lane enjoying entertainling everyone with a performance with the Maori Poi.
Pat and Robb, not only entertain with the Poi and Maori dance they are also vocalist and here you see them singing together in their lovely costumes.
Ian Kerr forever a loyal member of the Brisbane Steel Guitar Club has a real look of concentration on his face as is usual with these guitarists. Ian is always popular with the crowd and his band is known around Brisbane Area
Michel Rose originally from Maritius but now living in Sydney was there in full swing along with his swinging style of playing. Michel has a very full schedule with Sessions as well as band engangements and more. It was great to see Jean Stafford at our Festival singing with Michel.
It was great to have Ray Cullen sitting at his Pedal Steel Guitar after a few years of trying to find Ray with enough time to come and play at the Festial. Ray is a very busy man musically. Thank you Ray for a great performance and we hope you can join us at another festival.
Here is Kenny Kitching again but this time wowing the people with his Pedal Steel Guitar on which he is extremely talented. Thanks Kenny everyone loved your playing. Kenny was Inducted into the Brisbane Steel Clubs Hall of Fame at the Festival
Des Anthony not only makes guitars but he is also a confident player. He is a very reliable club member and the club was proud to have Des playing for them. Many thanks Des for your loyalty.
Here is Paddy Long sitting at his Pedal Steel Guitar entertaining a good sized audience. Paddy came from New Zealand to the Festival both last year and this year. Thank you Paddy we all enjoyed your playing ability
